Remote Days Monday and Tuesday

Dear CPS Students, Families, and Guardians,

The holidays can certainly be a mixed bag, can't they? On one hand, there is the joy of spending time with loved ones, special events, decorations, and shared meals. On the other hand, holidays can be stressful with planning, gift shopping, and just an upset to our routines.

Here at CPS, we have certainly had a challenging season. Due to enrollment, we had to lose 1/3 of our staff in October, we were affected by the violence in our Colorado Springs community, personal loss among staff, upsetting events at school, and just a general lack of regard some students display to staff who are devoting their all to them and their education.

The staff at CPS care deeply about this community and all the students here. But we are worn out.

For the mental support of staff, we will be having remote days this coming Monday and Tuesday before the break, December 19th, and 20th. Students have been encouraged to take work home to accomplish on Monday and Tuesday. If a student doesn't have a computer at home, paperwork can be done. If they do have a computer and internet at home, a student can work on Reading Plus or any of the classes they are already working on online. Teachers will be available by email. Our emails are available on our website at: https://www.communityprepschool.org/about/our-team

Students should also log on to their emails Monday and Tuesday to participate in a couple surveys that will be sent out. CPS is a great school. It is often the determining factor is a student's success. But we can always improve, and we would like to work on improving our overall school culture. We all need to engage in this conversation: staff, students, and families/guardians.

Thank you for your understanding. We wish you very happy holidays. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at: rsolanki@communityprepschool.org

As a reminder, our winter break is from Wednesday, December 21st through Tuesday, January 3rd. We return to school Wednesday, January 4th. To see our calendar, visit: https://www.communityprepschool.org/calendar

Sincerely,

Raj Solanki

Miguel Romero

December 2, 2024 Dear CPS Community, Miguel "Smalls" Romero It is with a heavy heart that I write to share the tragic news of the loss of one of our students, Miguel Romero. Miguel passed away on Friday, under circumstances that are deeply affecting our entire school community. The police are pursuing this as a homicide case. During this difficult time, our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Miguel’s family and loved ones. He is an important part of our school family, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him. Miguel was always kind, supportive, and respectful to anyone he encountered. He has been a bright light at our school. To support our students and staff as they process this loss, counseling services are available at school. Our school counselor, Anais, will be on hand to provide care and guidance to anyone who needs it. If you feel your child would benefit from additional support, please encourage them to speak with Anais, another staff member they ...

Updated Attendance Protocol Effective March 30

Dear Community Prep Families, We are writing to inform you of an update to our school attendance protocol that will go into full effect at the start of fourth quarter, after Spring Break, on March 30. This updated protocol was developed by our Attendance Working Group to strengthen consistency, accountability, and communication across classrooms. Clear attendance expectations help ensure accurate data, early intervention when concerns arise, and stronger support for student success. Beginning March 30, the following expectations will be in place: Students must be physically present in the classroom they are scheduled to attend in order to be marked present. Students will be marked absent if they arrive more than 15 minutes after the start of a class period. Students will also be marked absent if they leave class before the end of the period without permission. Attendance will be recorded each class period and entered into our Student Information System (SIS) daily. At this time, ...
