Join Us for Sources of Strength Spirit Week – May 19-22!

Dear CPS Families,

We’re excited to announce our upcoming Sources of Strength Spirit Week, happening from May 19 to May 22! Sources of Strength is a program that promotes wellness and connection through eight key strengths. Each day of Spirit Week will focus on a different strength with fun themes and activities to engage our students—and we’d love high engagement in the celebration!

Here’s the schedule:

Monday, May 19: PJ Day! (Mental Health & Spirituality)
Students can wear their coziest pajamas as we focus on self-care and inner peace. Activities include a mindfulness session, coloring stations, and a calm corner for relaxation.

Tuesday, May 20: Athletic Day! (Physical Health & Healthy Activities)
Dress in sports or athletic wear to celebrate staying active! We’ll have yoga, a walk-a-thon, and fitness stations to get everyone moving.

Wednesday, May 21: Twinsies / Fave Color Day! (Positive Friends & Family Support)
Students can match with a friend or wear their favorite color to honor the power of friendship and family. Activities include friendship bracelet making, a photo booth, and writing letters to loved ones.

Thursday, May 22: Wear a White Shirt! (Mentors & Generosity)
Wear a plain white shirt for a school-wide T-shirt signing event! We’ll also have a Pay It Forward challenge and a mentor appreciation wall to celebrate kindness and guidance.

How Families Can Get Involved:

Encourage your student to participate in the daily themes and activities.

Ask them about their favorite activity each day to spark meaningful conversations.

Join the fun by doing a kind act as a family for the Pay It Forward challenge on May 22!

Let’s come together to build a stronger, more connected school community. We can’t wait to see everyone’s Spirit Week energy!

Updated Attendance Protocol Effective March 30

Dear Community Prep Families, We are writing to inform you of an update to our school attendance protocol that will go into full effect at the start of fourth quarter, after Spring Break, on March 30. This updated protocol was developed by our Attendance Working Group to strengthen consistency, accountability, and communication across classrooms. Clear attendance expectations help ensure accurate data, early intervention when concerns arise, and stronger support for student success. Beginning March 30, the following expectations will be in place: Students must be physically present in the classroom they are scheduled to attend in order to be marked present. Students will be marked absent if they arrive more than 15 minutes after the start of a class period. Students will also be marked absent if they leave class before the end of the period without permission. Attendance will be recorded each class period and entered into our Student Information System (SIS) daily. At this time, ...

Miguel Romero

December 2, 2024 Dear CPS Community, Miguel "Smalls" Romero It is with a heavy heart that I write to share the tragic news of the loss of one of our students, Miguel Romero. Miguel passed away on Friday, under circumstances that are deeply affecting our entire school community. The police are pursuing this as a homicide case. During this difficult time, our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Miguel’s family and loved ones. He is an important part of our school family, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him. Miguel was always kind, supportive, and respectful to anyone he encountered. He has been a bright light at our school. To support our students and staff as they process this loss, counseling services are available at school. Our school counselor, Anais, will be on hand to provide care and guidance to anyone who needs it. If you feel your child would benefit from additional support, please encourage them to speak with Anais, another staff member they ...
